Cabgolin 0.25 mg is a medication used to treat hyperprolactinemia, a condition characterized by abnormally high levels of the hormone prolactin in the body. It works by blocking or reducing the release of prolactin from the pituitary gland.

  • Treatment of pituitary prolactinomas (tumors of the pituitary gland)
  • Immediately after abortion, stillbirth, childbirth, or miscarriage, breastfeeding should be stopped

Dosage

  • The dose of Cabgolin 0.25 mg will depend on the individual’s condition and response to treatment.
  • The usual dose is 0.25 mg twice a week, which may be increased every 4 weeks as needed, up to 1 mg twice a week.

Precautions and Warnings

  • Cabgolin 0.25 mg should not be used by breastfeeding women as it stops or suppresses breast milk production.
  • It should be used with caution in patients with liver or heart problems, high blood pressure, or a history of psychosis.
  • It is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age.
  • It should be used with caution in patients with a history of Raynaud’s syndrome, stomach ulcers, or bleeding in the stomach or intestines.

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Cabgolin 0.25 mg may interact with other medicines, such as sulpiride, pergolide, bromocriptine, lisuride, ergotamine, levodopa, and antibiotics.
  • It is recommended to inform the doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbal products being taken before starting Cabgolin 0.25 mg.
